The cost of dental implant can vary greatly and the cost involved depends on many factors:
- Your needs: Do you need bone or gum grafting in order to have a successful implant?
- Your desires: Do you desire teeth that are removable or fixed in place, not to be removed?
- The experience and level of training of your surgeon: Generally-speaking, the less experienced your dentist is, the lower their fees will be. However, when it comes to placing implants, this factor can have very long and costly repercussions.
- The implant used: The cost of the implant to your doctor varies 10-fold. There are over 200 implants available for your surgeon to choose from and they can purchase one implant for one price while another doctor can buy an implant for just 10% of that amount.
Why do implants vary in cost?
There are a few implant companies that have been around for 30+ years conducting extensive research into their implants and into the improvement of bone healing around their implants. There are also many other implant companies that have been around for just a few years and conduct no research, as the FDA’s requirement is very minimal. Of course the more established implant companies have greater costs and many dentists will purchase the less costly implants in order to save money.
Rest assured that we provide our patients with implants that are very well researched and have history of success going back four decades. Yes, they cost more, but when choosing a medical device, we feel that the our cost is secondary to your safety.
