Dental Implants are about as successful and predictable as any procedure in medicine or dentistry. However, nothing can be successful 100% of the time and implants are no exception. Implants are generally thought of having approximately a 95% success rate, and while that’s excellent, that also means that one in every 20 may have serious complications. And as more and more dentists with very limited training get involved in implant surgery, studies show these complication rates rising.
Dental Implant Failure Symptoms
Implant complications can vary depending on your particular circumstances. Failure symptoms can include issues like prolonged pain, swelling, bleeding, and numbness. Other complications can involve dissatisfaction with the results. These include the inability to clean around the implant and constantly getting food stuck, or problems involving the appearance of the gums around the implant. Gum recession can occur around an implant the same way it can occur around a tooth and can often be corrected in a very specialized manner.
Early Intervention is Key for Dental Implant Complications
Regardless of the type of complications you may have, the earlier they are treated the more likely they are to be correctable.
